Meet the doctors
Dr. Michael J. Weber
Dr. Weber set up practice in Westerville shortly after graduating from Ohio State University College of Optometry. It was his desire to establish a family oriented private practice. While developing his optometric career and raising his family in Westerville, Dr. Weber became involved in community affairs. Active in Westerville Rotary and Jaycees, he helped organize many service projects benefitting area residents. As a member of the Westerville Chamber of Commerce and serving on a Westerville City Commission, he has remained involved in service activities.
After his practice outgrew the original office space, Dr. Weber moved to the current Med West site. There, the practice became Med West Eyecare and new doctors joined the staff. Dr. Weber welcomed Dr. Joan Nerderman to the practice in 1990 and Dr. Deborah Wright in 1996. In addition to practicing in Westerville, Dr. Weber has also served as part time clinical instructor at the OSU College of Optometry. Dr. Christina Kesslar received her undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton in 2002. She finished her doctorate degree in 2006 and is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry. While attending school at OSU, Christina worked at Med West Eyecare as a part-time assistant for three years and has already developed a special relationship with some of our patients. Her areas of interest include laser vision correction surgery and fitting contact lenses. Dr. Kesslar and her husband Todd enjoy traveling, and cheering for the Buckeyes. Dr. Christina P. Kessler
Dr. Sarah Rule
Dr. Sarah Rule is a native of rural Northeast Ohio. She earned her undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University. After graduation she moved to Houston, Texas where she pursued her Doctor of Optometry degree, graduating magna cum laude and a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Honor Society, from the University of Houston College of Optometry. She is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, from which she earned a student fellowship while in school, and the Ohio Optometric Association. Her optometric interests include specialized contact lens fittings and treatment of eye disease. In her free time she enjoys teaching Sunday school, traveling, kayaking, baking and spending time with her family. Dr. Rule resides in the Columbus area with her husband and two dogs. She looks forward to meeting you and providing you with the excellent eye care you deserve
Dr. Rebecca Deffler received her OD from New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA in 2017. She then completed an Advanced Practice Fellowship in Low Vision Rehabilitation and earned her MS from The Ohio State University in 2019, where she continues to work towards her PhD in Vision Science. During the week, she educates students in the primary care and low vision clinics, and on Saturdays she enjoys caring for her own patients at MedWest. Outside the office, she spends her time running and hanging with her dog.
Dr. Rebecca A. Deffler
Dr. Monica Chitkara
Dr. Monica Chitkara is a graduate of the Ohio State University College of optometry. After graduation, she went on to complete a family practice residency at the University of Missouri St. Louis School Of Optometry. Dr. Chitkara has experience in many areas of Optometry including private practice, research, teaching and ophthalmology settings. Her research experience includes working as a clinical principal Investigator in a number of studies at the OSU College of optometry. She has also served as a clinical instructor at the OSU College of optometry. Dr. Chitkara is a mother of a 14-year-old boy, David. In her free time, Dr. Chitkara is an amateur ballroom dancer.
